Sugatham
We attach great importance to addressing the problems of tribal brothers in social activities. Though many programs have been devised for their upliftment since independence, the community in Kerala is still incredibly poor. Seva Bharati has been at the forefront of providing maximum attention to them in the areas of education, health, and society by launching tribal-friendly schemes.
Great Poetess Smt Sugathakumari was at the forefront of fighting hard for the upliftment of the tribal community. The teacher travelled and worked in these tribal areas without any worries even in adverse weather conditions. The teacher, who always arrives with a smiling face, pouring out true love, enabled them to stand on their own feet. Teacher had also handed over innovative ideas to Seva Bharati for the upliftment of the Tribal brothers. She is no more, but the ideas conveyed by the teacher are eternal and will inspire future generations.
As a mark of respect to Sugathakumari teacher, Seva Bharati has launched a mobile medical service scheme "Sugatham". The medical van will operate in 25 panchayats in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Pathanamthitta districts. We have established contact with hospitals in these districts to conduct further treatment if required. The panchayats covered under this scheme are as follows.
1. Thiruvananthapuram - Vithura, Kuttichal, Amboori, Pangode, Peringamala, Nandiyodu, Aryanad, Tholicode, Panavoor, Valiyakunnil, Punnanpara
2. Kollam - Piravathur, Thenmala, Aryankavu, Kulathupuzha, Chithara, Anchal
3. Pathanamthitta - Seethathodu, Perunad, Konni, Aruvakulam, Chittar, Vadasserikara, Naranammoozhi, Vechoochira
The medical van was sponsored by Quick Heal, a Delhi-based IT company. Hon'ble Governor of Kerala, Shri Arif Mohammad Khan formally inaugurated the Sugatham project. It really inspired Seva Bharati and was a blessing to tens of thousands of workers. The project is still going on as a tribute to Sugathakumari Teacher, who dedicated her life to the conservation of nature and intervened timely through powerful agitations to protect the rights of her Tribal brothers.
