The pandemic shook the world in early 2020. All nations began to fight against Covid-19 with little knowhow about the virus initially. India also faced the initial phase of the Pandemic in the first quarter of 2020. Sevabharathi, with its vast experience in dealing with disasters and pandemics from its early days; set out with its motivated team. Our leadership and coordination helped to make remarkable progress, combined with widespread support from our stakeholders. During the initial wave, we set up helpdesks, support to the Government covid care centres, supply of essential items to the affected families, Tele-medicine, counselling, blood donation, ambulance services, sanitation services, medicine supply, supply of medical equipment like ventilators, oxygen concentrator and pulse oximeters to the hospitals, funeral services and awareness programmes. During the second wave, we continued the existing services and added covid care centres, quarantine centres, vaccination support services and distribution of AYUSH-64 preventive medicine.
Our services are available in all the districts, spread across all panchayats and major towns, serving the needy. The selfless services of our volunteers round the clock make it possible. Our various units are constantly engaged in the production and supply of basic protective measures like face masks and sanitiser solutions, food for the needy, grocery kits and tailor-made services on call. AYUSH has been providing immunity boosters from the beginning phase of the pandemic itself. Sevabharathi continues to supply these immunity boosters to the community to support the pandemic control efforts. A full-fledged telemedicine service, tele-counselling and associated support services are running to support the needy. Our funeral services support the community on call. Our ambulance services received wide appreciation from all segments of society during the pandemic for their selfless support round the clock. Our volunteers have been doing sanitation work in public places, cleaning houses of covid affected people, and all necessary premises like public facilities, buses, and hospitals. Our packed food and grocery distribution helped the poor affected by the lockdown and the resultant unemployment. During the second wave of the pandemic, we sought and supplied medical equipment to support the healthcare system. There was a time when the hospitals got overloaded, running out of basic life-saving amenities and services. The oxygen concentrators and ventilators supplied by us helped remarkably in overcoming this crisis. AYUSH-64 is found very effective in asymptomatic and early-stage covid infections. This is an Ayurveda medicine developed by the Ministry of AYUSH. Sevabharathi is proud to be among the official distribution agencies assigned by the AYUSH to distribute medicine to the community in Kerala.
