TThiruvananthapuram: A Suposhon Awareness Camp and Menstrual Cup Distribution program was organized at Uthramcode Government High School on November 7, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., in collaboration with Sevabharathi Sarathi Tuition Centre and the Rotaract Club. The event was held for the high school section girls. The camp included awareness sessions on diseases caused by nutritional deficiencies, and on food items rich in essential vitamins necessary to maintain good health. Dr. Jayakumar, Professor, Oncology Department, Thiruvananthapuram Medical College, conducted a class on topics such as breast cancer, which is increasingly found among women due to changes in lifestyle and consumption of contaminated food, methods of self-examination, and available treatments. Around a hundred participants, including students and parents, attended the camp. The challenges faced by adolescent girls related to menstruation and the adverse effects of using sanitary napkins were discussed. Dr. Jayakumar, while distributing menstrual cups during the event, emphasized that the use of menstrual cups, which are eco-friendly and safe for health, should be encouraged. Rotaract Club Thiruvananthapuram Central President Dr. Sudheep, General Secretary Thambi Premkumar, Rotary Club Youth Wing President Teena Roy, and Sarathi Tuition Centre teachers Sajitha Ratnakaran and Aswathi also spoke on the occasion.
