TThiruvananthapuram: As part of the Gandhi Jayanti observances, Seva Bharati Kerala launched 'Sukrutham'—a palliative and supportive care initiative for the elderly—at the Sarathi Tuition Centre in Chappath. A collective for the elderly, comprising 180 senior citizens, was formed as part of this project. The initiative aims to ensure necessary care and support for elderly individuals and bedridden patients residing in the hilly regions. The activities of this elderly collective will be conducted under the supervision of the teachers at the Sarathi Tuition Centre. The project was inaugurated by D. Vijayan, State Vice President of Seva Bharati Kerala. He remarked that old age is not a curse, and the project’s objective is to ensure happiness, peace, and proper care for those in the twilight of their lives.
During the event, Ravi Kachani, General Secretary of Seva Bharati Kerala, unveiled the logo for the Sarathi Tuition Centre. A special 'Gandhi Edition'—prepared by the children—was also released. Seva Bharati volunteers distributed food grain kits, clothing, and medicines to the elderly. Students and teachers who excelled in various competitions were honored. The event was presided over by T. Prabhat Chand, with addresses delivered by Dr. Venu Haridas, Dr. Unnithan, Sunil Kumar, T. Murukan, V.M. Manukumar, and Vinu Kumar.
