Our Angamali is blessed with a new centre known as Sukarma Vikas Kendra for Divyang (disabled) by Sevabharathi Keralam, Angamali Unit. 30 Divyang men can reside here where the atmosphere has reverberration of Prayer's as the donor of this Land is from Kerala Priestly family and still old 'Mana'- the residence of priestly people is kept intact. The building construction is an archetype of Kerala Illam's where a languishing Verandah and doors and windows with proper sunlight illumines rooms. The land was donated by an 'Antarjanam'( reverred Brahmin lady) who led a life of penance in serving her children who were born disabled.
The story of this noble mother, a widow too whose 5 son's where mentally and physically retarded of which 4 are no more. Mother was in search of an voluntary organisation with repute serving society. Thus she donated 78 cent of land with estimated price of Rs 3.50 Crores to Sevabharathi Angamali. The area comes under Parakkadavu Panchayat, the centre place is also known as Parakkadavu. The building cost comes around 3.30 crore. A 100 persons can avail the learning facilities for disabled at special School functioning in this centre.
The Kendra is in need of funds to complete the project, with folded hands we request to donate for this noble cause.
